Yes, Dr. Goodman has extensive experience performing laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK and PRK.

 

Don't all board certified ophthalmologists offer Laser Vision Correction?

No.  Only ophthalmologists who have elected to seek additional training and skill levels offer laser vision correction, either LASIK or PRK.  Dr. Goodman is proud that he has been selected to perform laser vision correction procedures at the prestigious Tufts New England Medical Center LASIK facilities in Boston.

What is Dr. Goodman’s professional training?

Dr. Goodman is a specialist in ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.


How long has Dr. Goodman been practicing medicine?

Dr Goodman has over 30 years experience treating eye conditions and performing vision correction surgery.  Dr. Goodman graduated from medical school in 1978 and completed his residency in ophthalmology in 1982.  After extending his training with a Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease, Dr. Goodman entered private medical practice the following year.

 

What does board certified mean?

Board certified means that the physician has passed very strenuous oral and written examinations administered by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).  These examinations are very strict and difficult and are designed to ascertain that prospective ophthalmologists have the right skill levels, education and common sense to proceed with patient care.  Dr. Goodman passed the written and oral examinations on his first attempts.


Are all ophthalmologists board certified?

No.  Because a doctor is an ophthalmologist does not imply that he or she is a board certified ophthalmologist.


How does one know if his or her surgeon is a board certified ophthalmologist?

The patient should ask the physician directly.  Another option is to contact the American Academy of Ophthalmology at 866-561-8558 or check on the American Academy of Ophthalmology website www.aao.org.

 

Where was Dr. Goodman raised?

Dr. Goodman is a Wrentham, MA native.  After graduating from King Philip Regional High School and receiving his medical doctorate at Boston University, Dr. Goodman left the area to pursue his advanced training.  Upon completion of his training, he returned to his home to open his practice and to service his friends  and neighbors.
